The VKS is a 6mm airsoft sniper rifle inspired by the distinctive VKS/VSSK silhouette, but it is its own airsoft platform designed specifically rather than a one-to-one reproduction. Silverback has returned to its bullpup roots and combined the design with lessons learned from both the SRS and the TAC-41.

The official manual confirms that the spring-driven VKS shares three main mechanical elements with the SRS: the cylinder, the piston, and the spring guide. It also uses the same 41 cc of usable air volume as the SRS and the TAC-41. From the TAC-41 side, the VKS adopts a top-dead-center hop-up concept and a high-capacity magazine philosophy. The result is brief where it matters, mechanically familiar to experienced Silverback technicians, and easy to disassemble without turning routine maintenance into a workshop project.

Silenced or Compact?

Both versions use the same 350 mm inner barrel and central spring system. The difference lies in the external sound management package, overall length, and weight. The Silenced model includes the full-size Silverback VKS suppressor; the Compact model retains the extraordinary 649 mm bullpup footprint.

Meet the platform

The manual identifies the buttstock, dust cover, hop-up wheel, bolt latch, sling swivel, magazine release, magazine, trigger, pistol grip, handguard, suppressor, selector, rear takedown pin, front takedown pin and upper receiver. The rifle package includes the VKS, a VKS magazine, two alternative pressure nubs for hop-up adjustment, a patch, a punch and an adjustment wheel cover. The full-size suppressor is included with the Silenced version.

The selector has two clear positions: safe and fire. Keep it in the safe position until the rifle is pointed in a safe direction and you are ready to fire. Use proper eye protection, treat it as if it were loaded, and respect local laws and field energy limits.

How the VKS works

The VKS is operated via a linear bolt movement rather than a traditional rotating bolt. The spring drives a piston within the 41 cc cylinder; then, compressed air accelerates the BB through the hop-up and the 350 mm inner barrel. The bullpup design places this mechanism behind the trigger, preserving the full cylinder volume in a notably compact rifle.

Prepare safely.Place the selector in the safe position, point the rifle in a safe direction, and ensure the barrel path is clear.

Load and insert the magazine.With the magazine removed, open your fill port, load up to 63 BBs, and close it. First insert the front of the magazine, then rotate the rear up until it locks. The feed tube holds an additional five BBs.

Open the bolt.Press the bolt lever latch and pull the lever back approximately 92 mm until the piston engages the sear. With the bolt open, the chamber can be safely inspected.

Close and lock.Push the bolt completely forward, release the latch, and verify that the lever is locked in place.

Fire safely.Only when ready, move the selector to fire, aim at an approved target, and pull the trigger. Repeat the straight-pull firing cycle before firing again.

Fully unload.Return the selector to its SAFE position, remove the magazine, and empty it via the magazine latch. Remember that up to five BBs may remain in the feed path; clear the rifle in a safe direction according to the official manual.

Critical manual warning:Never pull the trigger while the bolt is open. The bolt can close violently and cause damage or injury. Do not overtighten the silencer; screw it clockwise only until it reaches the stop.

One click at a time

The VKS uses a dedicated TDC adjustment wheel. Each click changes the hop pressure by approximately 20 micrometers. Fifty positions provide a total range of 0 to 1,000 micrometers. Silverback also supplies two taller nubs that shift the available adjustment window by approximately +250 or +500 micrometers.

Turn the wheel clockwise to add hop and counterclockwise to reduce it. Start from the bottom, fire a controlled group with the BB mass and energy you will actually use, then gradually add hop until the trajectory is stable without excessive rise. Keep the rifle vertical while testing; tilting the rifle introduces lateral spin.

Whenever you change BB mass, muzzle energy, nub, or bucking, reset and tune again. Excessive pressure can jam the chamber. Chronograph the rifle after changing hop because the setup can alter measured energy. The chamber, nub, bucking, and inner barrel must remain clean and dry.

Built around silence

Silverback describes the VKS as probably one of the quietest spring-pistol platforms currently available in airsoft. This is a manufacturer positioning statement, not a classification by an independent laboratory, but the engineering direction is clear.

The sound heard by an opponent is a combination of muzzle report, piston impact, mechanical resonance, and environmental reflection. The Silenced VKS addresses the muzzle component with a very large dedicated volume around a comparatively short 350 mm inner barrel. The piston architecture and aerodynamic brake of the spring system give technicians another route to soften the mechanical impulse, while the rigid bullpup chassis keeps the air system compact and aligned.

This is why proper premium construction is not simply 'the strongest spring'. A truly top-tier VKS must balance air volume, piston mass, headspace, air brake, spring, hop-up seal, and BB weight, then test the result on a chronograph and a sound test. Efficiency and impact control are what create a refined rifle.

How SRS products fit into a premium VKS build

The official VKS manual explicitly confirms that it shares the cylinder, piston, and spring guide mechanics of the SRS. The official exploded view also identifies SRS family references for the air brake and spring guide within the VKS spring assembly. Skirmshop has also confirmed a specific conversion path for the Stalker hop system: the Stalker chamber works with a specific VKS adapter, and the Stalker Morpheus inner barrel and Stalker hop-up rubber are compatible. This creates a complete premium air and hop upgrade path, without implying that all SRS parts fit the VKS.

This confirmed conversion path is not a general guarantee for other SRS parts.

Keep the rifle silent in silence

Keep the hop-up assembly, bucking, nub, and inner barrel clean and dry. Oil in the hop system destroys consistency.
Use only a small amount of suitable lubricant on the cylinder seals and sliding surfaces identified by Silverback. More lubricant is not better.
Verify that the suppressor and front assembly are properly seated; stop when the thread reaches its natural end and never overtighten.
Inspect the feed lips of the magazine, the follower, and the channel. Dirt in the high-capacity double-stack magazine can cause intermittent feeding.
After any change of piston, spring, air brake, seal, nub, or hop, verify bolt engagement, safe operation, and muzzle energy before field use.
Store the rifle unloaded, decocked, and dry. Remove the magazine and confirm the five-BB feed path is clear.

Is the VKS a SRS in a different body?

No. It is a distinct platform with dedicated VKS body, magazine, barrel, and TDC hop-up assembly. It shares the SRS cylinder, piston, and spring guide mechanism, so selected SRS system upgrades are applicable.

Are all Stalker SRS products compatible?

No. The confirmed path includes the shared architecture of piston, spring guide, and air brake, plus the Stalker chamber installed with the specific VKS adapter, the Stalker Morpheus inner barrel, and the Stalker bucking. No. Both official versions use a 350 mm inner barrel. The main difference is the external front assembly, overall length, and total weight.
