Procedure
Step by step
Field-strip the VKS
Remove the two assembly pins, handguard and stock, then slide the receiver from the top cover so the bolt assembly is accessible.
Expose and organise the bolt-handle parts
Remove the bolt/cylinder assembly in the order shown. Lay every fastener, pin and spring out in sequence so none can be reversed or lost.
Support the handle block
Protect the component in soft jaws or on a non-marring support. Drive the retaining elements only in the direction and sequence visible in the official close-ups.
Transfer to the mirrored configuration
Fit the dedicated SBA-BTH-80 left-hand handle and reposition the internal pieces to the mirrored layout shown on screen. Do not substitute an improvised handle.
Reinstall the retaining parts
Return every pin and fastener to its original depth and seating. Check that the handle pivots and travels freely before the assembly goes back into the receiver.
Reassemble the receiver and furniture
Re-engage the receiver with the top cover and bolt linkage, then install the stock and handguard. Insert both body pins by hand rather than with a hammer.
Perform a dry function and safety check
With no magazine or BB present, confirm smooth bolt movement, positive sear engagement, trigger release and correct safety operation before field use.
Critical checks
- Use the dedicated SBA-BTH-80 handle.
- Keep small retaining parts in their original order.
- Never force a mismatched driver into a fastener.
- Do not publish a tool size or torque not stated by Silverback.
- Function-test the trigger and safety before loading.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does the standard handle simply move to the other side?
No. The VKS conversion uses Silverback's dedicated SBA-BTH-80 left-hand bolt handle.
Why are no Allen-key sizes listed here?
The official video provides a visual sequence but no subtitle or spoken specification for those fasteners. Use a correctly fitting tool and the current part documentation.
What must be checked after conversion?
Bolt travel, sear engagement, trigger release and the safety must all work correctly without a magazine before the rifle is loaded.
