Procedure
Step by step
Capture the spring guide
Insert a 5 mm or smaller pin to release the guide while controlling it with your hand; it will pop outward.
Remove spring and stopper
Withdraw the spring. Remove the temporary pin while controlling the rear because the spring-guide stopper also ejects backward.
Remove gate spring and follower
Take out the magazine-gate spring, then slide the follower assembly from its channel.
Release the base plate
Use a flat-head screwdriver to push the plate at the magazine base, then remove the two internal body halves from the outer shell.
Remove and clean the gate
Lift out the magazine gate and clean the accessible channels. Removing every M3 screw is only required for deeper work, not basic cleaning.
Rebuild shell and gate
Replace the gate, slide the internal halves into the shell and push the base plate fully home against the work surface.
Install stopper, follower and spring
Slide the spring and stopper into the magazine and hold them with the 5 mm pin. Install follower base and tip as shown, then feed the spring back inside.
Lock and function-test
Push the spring guide into position and remove the temporary pin to lock it. Pull the magazine gate: the follower should pop out freely.
Critical checks
- Control both spring-loaded parts during release.
- Do not remove M3 screws for a routine clean.
- Keep follower base and tip in the shown orientation.
- Seat the base plate fully.
- The follower must pop out when the gate is pulled.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to remove every M3 screw to clean the VKS magazine?
No. Silverback says that deeper separation is not necessary for a basic cleaning operation.
What size temporary pin is used?
Use a 5 mm or smaller pin to retain and release the spring guide.
How do I know the follower is assembled correctly?
Pull the magazine gate; the follower should pop out of the feed opening without sticking.
