Silverback VKS quick gun strip down

The complete official field strip: furniture, receiver, spring system, cylinder, barrel removal with a 5 mm Allen key and reassembly at 4 Nm.

Key facts and tools

Safety. Remove the magazine, clear the feed path and point the spring-guide end away from your face. The spring and guide can eject with force. Do not load the VKS until the trigger group, safety and feeding have been checked.

Remove external parts

Remove the magazine, unscrew the silencer, drive out both pins, slide the handguard rearward and remove it, then remove the stock.

Separate the receiver

Slide the receiver from the top cover, then remove the dust cover and the small hop-up nub.

Control the spring system

Hold the spring guide and remove its stopper. The guide and spring will eject with force. Remove the cylinder and piston once the spring is controlled.

Remove the barrel if required

For deeper disassembly, use a 5 mm Allen key to loosen the four receiver clamps, drive out the 6 mm barrel-lock pin and withdraw the barrel.

Reinstall and align the barrel

Slide the barrel into the receiver and make sure the hop unit engages the feeding tube. Refit the lock pin and tighten all four clamps to 4 Nm.

Install cylinder, spring and guide

Press the trigger to engage the cylinder and piston. Insert the spring and guide; with strong springs, use a punch to push the guide and pull the trigger so it seats deeply.

Lock the spring guide

Slide the stopper fully into the orientation shown in the official video and confirm it captures the guide securely.

Replace cover and nub

Install the dust cover and slide the nub into position with its concave side facing the hop-up bucking.

Join receiver and top cover

Lay the top cover flat and slide in the receiver. Keep the bolt handle forward and ensure the operating rod engages with the bolt.

Install stock and handguard

Turn the assembly upside down, fit the stock with the safety on FIRE, engage trigger guard and pistol grip, align the pin bores and install the handguard.

Insert pins without a hammer

Long pin front, short pin rear. Press both by hand; pinch the stock while inserting the rear pin.

Finish and function-test

Insert the magazine from the rear before pivoting it upward, reinstall the silencer, then perform unloaded trigger, safety and feed checks.

Critical checks

  • Control the spring guide before releasing the stopper.
  • Use 5 mm Allen and identify the 6 mm lock pin.
  • Hop unit must engage the feed tube.
  • Clamp torque is 4 Nm.

Do I need a tool for the basic VKS field strip?

The furniture and receiver use the supplied pin punch. A 5 mm Allen key is needed only when continuing to barrel removal.

Which body pin goes where?
